Alphasphaerolipovirus is a proposed genus of double stranded DNA viruses that infect haloarchaea. There are three viruses currently recognized in this genus.

Morphology
Viruses of this genus are tailless icosahedral virions with an internal lipid membrane located between the protein capsid and the linear double stranded DNA genome.
Note
The name has Halosphaerovirus also been proposed for this genus.
