The Alpensia Sliding Centre (알펜시아 슬라이딩 센터) is a bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton track that will be located in Alpensia Resort, South Korea, located in the district of Pyeongchang. This venue will host the bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton events for the 2018 Winter Olympics.

It will accommodate 7,000 spectators. The track will be 2,018 metres long to commemorate the Olympic Games. Its width is 1.40 m.

It is planned to host World Cup events in 2017 as test events for the Olympics.

Location

It will occupy a surface of 177,000 square metres (44 acres). The site is located in Yongsan-ri, in the township of Daegwallyeong-myeon. The altitude of the track goes from 940 m down to 800 m at finish level.

Construction

The venue will be built by Daelim under the responsibility of the Gangwon Province. The construction will cost ₩122.8 billion (about US$114.5 million), to be shared between the country and the regional authorities: National Government 92.1 billion, Local Government 30.7 billion.

The construction of the Alpensia Sliding Centre started in March 2014 and will be completed by the end of 2016 with the final completion of the centre scheduled for the end of 2017.
