Overview

The website was founded in 1995 by jazz enthusiast and web entrepreneur Michael Ricci and is maintained by a volunteer staff of contributors, industry professionals, members and technicians. Coverage is in depth built around six inter-related web components:

  • Publishing articles, interviews, concert and album reviews
  • Maintaining a database of more than 89,000 musician profiles
  • Disseminating jazz news
  • Presenting daily free jazz MP3 downloads
  • Featuring jazz photos and photographers in a gallery
  • Circulating event and venue listings through the global Jazz Near You sister platform

    • By early 2017 nearly 40,000 albums had been reviewed, that spanned both major label and independent releases. A further 20,000 articles had also been published which, when added to the musician database, formed a formidable online journal of record and jazz reference resource.

    The Jazz Journalists Association voted All About Jazz the Best Website Covering Jazz for thirteen consecutive years between 2003 and 2015, when the category was retired
