Reception

The Allmusic reviewer Chris Nickson awarded the album 3.5 stars, and the review by Anders Grønneberg of the Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet awarded the album dice 5.

With Aliens Alive fiddler Annbjørg Lien shows that she is not only an exciting and courageous artist, it tells us how bold she is in relation to looking back in the Norwegian folksong tradition, while she at the same time appears as a contemporary musician with her eyes lifted forward. Lien has a personal song to her fiddle that is both melancholic and teasing, and are showing as a red thread that extends through the whole album. This album is based on recordings from six concerts in 2001, and Lien appears like a complete fiddler and a modern tradition interpreter. She show a mature safety which give her fiddle a varied and solid appearance. The concert admissions is no blueprint of the versions found on previously released albums.
