Álejandro Treviño Castro (born August 26, 1957) is a Mexican former professional baseball catcher. He played twelve seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1978 to 1990 for the New York Mets, Cincinnati Reds, Atlanta Braves, San Francisco Giants, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Houston Astros. He is a Spanish-language broadcaster for the Astros.

Biography

Treviño played 13 seasons in the major leagues beginning with the New York Mets for four seasons (1978–81), followed by the Cincinnati Reds (1982–83) for two full seasons before splitting the 1984 season between the Reds and the Atlanta Braves. Trevino then spent the next three years playing in California, first with the San Francisco Giants in (1985), then the Los Angeles Dodgers (1986–87). Trevino next joined the Houston Astros (1988–89). After two full seasons in Houston, Trevino spent his final year in Major League baseball with three different teams. Trevino began the 1990 season in Houston, then returned to the New York Mets briefly before finishing his career back in Cincinnati with the Reds.

In 13 seasons he played in 939 games, had 2,430 at bats, 245 runs, 604 hits, 117 doubles, 10 triples, 23 home runs, 244 RBI, 19 stolen bases, 205 walks, a .249 batting average, a .310 on-base percentage, a .333 slugging percentage, 810 total bases, 27 sacrifice hits, 20 sacrifice flies and 30 intentional walks.

As of 2015, Trevino is an analyst for the Astros on their Spanish radio broadcasts. He is the younger brother of Bobby Treviño.
