Albert Reyes was born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas. He graduated from Angelo State University in 1982. After working for Sprint for several years, he graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He eventually earned his doctorate and served as a professor at Howard Payne University. He was then picked as president of the Baptist University of the Américas in San Antonio, Texas. He is now CEO of Buckner International a multimillion-dollar, international, Baptist charity.
