Alan Milliner is an Australian football referee who officiates in the A-League National Youth League and the A-League. Alan Milliner played for clubs such as The Gap FC and Taringa Rovers in the legacy XXXX League, the top local league in Brisbane. At age 20, Alan Milliner retired from playing and took up refereeing full-time and quickly progressed through the ranks, overcoming a number of injuries to become one of the top officials in Australia and being added to the FIFA International Referees List in 2014.

On the 4th of April 2017, Alan Milliner was appointed as one of the inaugural Video assistant referee (VAR's) in the Hyundai A-League, the first top-tier football league in the world to implement the technology.

History

Milliner has refereed A-League National Youth League games, and made his A-League debut in Round 16 of the 2009-10 A-League season, when Brisbane Roar defeated Wellington Phoenix 4-1 at Suncorp Stadium.
