Advance and Be Mechanized, released in 1967, was the penultimate Tom and Jerry cartoon. It was directed by Ben Washam and produced by Chuck Jones, and iy was the third and last of the outer space themed shorts from the Chuck Jones era, the first two being Guided Mouse-ille and O-Solar Meow: both released earlier in 1967. It is the last Tom and Jerry cartoon with Dean Elliott as the music composer. Jerry sends the robot-mouse to catch some cheese with robots are mining. But Tom is the defective and sends the robot-cat to catch robot-mouse. Tom and Jerry both end up directed by robots (Tom directed by robot-cat and Jerry directed by robot-mouse)... Following on from the other space-age shorts, Tom and Jerry are using the cat and mouse robots to do the chasing for them as Jerry uses his robot to get some cheese from the room. However, their metallic counterparts, fed up of being bashed about, switch roles with their furry operators and the real Tom and Jerry find themselves battling each other. Following on from the other space-age shorts, Jerry is first seen controlling his robot mouse to get some cheese from a room. Tom is bored and changes the scenes on his screen and finds about the robot mouse. He orders his robot cat to go after the robot mouse. The robot cat succeeds in catching the robot mouse and taking away the cheese. Jerry is shown with a sad face while Tom laughs and pats his robot cat. Tom is again seen bored and decides to go eat. However, Tom doesn't like what he was given and ends up being kicked out. Tom still has an empty stomach and chases Jerry. Jerry runs into the machine's coin slot where a robot puts hot sauce on Jerry's head. (A small explosion occurs) Jerry puts the whole bottle of hot sauce on a hamburger which Tom eats. (An explosion occurs in Tom's body) Tom is then offered a glass of water. Tom orders his robot cat to chase the robot mouse again and the robot cat ends up getting hurt. Now the robot cat orders Tom to take his position. The robot mouse who is also hurt does the same way with Jerry. Now Tom and Jerry are controlled to fight each other.
