Personal Life

Adam was born in Auburn, Indiana to Ryan and Theresa Sturrock. Adam's father suffered a severe spinal injury in World War Two, and was left in near constant pain as a result. He drank heavily to dull the pain, and developed addictions to multiple drugs, including morphine and heroin. Towards the end of his life, he started to take a mixture of cocaine and heroine (known as powerballing, or speedballing), from which he eventually died of an overdose. In his book "The Motivation of Addiction: How Understanding the Causes of Your Addiction Can Help You Leave It Behind", Adam wrote about his relationship and experiences with his father growing up, and cites this (as well as his own struggles with alcohol addiction) as one of his main motivations to help people recover from their own substance addictions.

On the 8th of July 2014, Adam Sturrock was involved in a fatal car accident in which his vehicle collided with a tree. He suffered multiple puncture wounds to the neck and later died in hospital.
