Alpert graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and began his career while working in hospitality as the Director of Marketing and Promotion for The Butter Group, helping the restaurateurs open 1OAK in New York and Las Vegas at the Mirage. He organized and promoted events during the Cannes Film Festival, Art Basel, Super Bowl, New Year’s Eve, Coachella.

While working at The Butter Group, Alpert started 4AM, a DJ agency, with DJ Jus-Ske. He later left The Butter Group to work full-time at 4AM. In 2012, Alpert signed a local DJ named Alex Pall, and Andrew Taggart, a recent graduate of Syracuse University’s music Bandier Program. The pair formed the production duo The Chainsmokers in New York under Adam's management.

2013-present

The Chainsmokers began remixing indie band songs and placing the results on SoundCloud, where they repeatedly hit No. 1 on the influential online Hype Machine charts. Within 8 months, Adam attracted booking agencies from around the country and eventually signed the duo with CAA. With a gig scheduled for Miami’s LIV nightclub, the two worked on a novelty song and video to promote the appearance via social media, the result was #SELFIE. #SELFIE began to climb the charts, thanks to a release on Steve Aoki’s indie dance label, Dim Mak Records, and the duo eventually signed to a long-term album deal with Republic Records of Universal Music Group and a publishing deal with Sony/ATV.

Shortly after, working under Doug Morris, CEO of Sony Music Entertainment, Alpert created the imprint called Disruptor Records with a management arm called Disruptor Management. He also teamed up with Sony/ATV CEO, Marty Bandier on a music publishing joint venture called Selector Songs.

The company offers artists a synergistic “one-stop shop” that allows Alpert to manage his acts and distribute music through Columbia, Epic, RCA, Ultra or RED Associated labels and publish through Sony/ATV.
