Adair County High School is a U.S. high school (grades 9 to 12) in the small town of Columbia, Adair County, Kentucky. It is the county's only high school.

In 2005, the school had about 746 students and 45 teachers, and was eligible for Title One support. 96% of its students were white, and the remainder included African-American, Middle Eastern and Chinese students.

Extracurricular activities

FFA is the largest school club. It has won over one hundred state and national awards. Two students traveled internationally upon winning awards. The club is part of the agriculture program that supports itself on tobacco and greenhouse crops. In 2009 a large cattle barn was built at no expense to the school system.

The school has a highly rated band program. The marching band boasts a Kentucky record 21 KMEA state championships and 31 consecutive appearances in state finals since the inception of the Kentucky State Marching Band Championships in 1986. In addition to their in-state success, the Adair County marching band was named Bands of America class A national champions in 2005, 2007, 2014, 2015, and 2016. The current band has over 100 members and is directed by Tom Case with assistance from Austin Bralley.

The ACHS Academic Team placed in the top eight in the Kentucky Association for Academic Competition's (KAAC) 2009 state finals. It has been to the National Academic Quiz Tournaments' nationals competition twice, in 2008 and 2010. In 2010, the team placed seventh in the nation. This feat was even more impressive because ACHS was the only public high school to place in the top ten at this event.

The ACHS Future Problem Solving team has had frequent top ten finishes at the KAAC state finals competition, and has gone on to the Future Problem Solving Program International Conference several times. In 2009, the team boasted a fourth place FPS Middle Division finish at the International Conference.

The school also has two cheerleading squads. The blue squad came away from the 2008 CANAM International Cheerleading Competition in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, with the top honor given, the American Cheerleader Editor's Choice Award.

ACHS had an outstanding German program from 1997 to 2000 under the instruction of Erwin Heinrich Lepiarczyk II. Two pupils earned first place honors in the 1999 state German speaking competition sponsored by the Kentucky Council for the Teaching of Foreign Languages.
