History
Founder and Chairman Alex Pusco established ActivTrades as an online trading platform in Switzerland in 2001 and moved to an office in London in 2005.
In addition to its role as a Forex brokerage, ActivTrades began offering services to institutions needing support for their portfolio managers and to independent brokers. The company expanded its product range, launching the Virtual Private Server (VPS) and Molanis, and introducing the Trading Central Portal, Autochartist as well as add-ons aimed towards helping traders with their trading strategies.
ActivTrades expanded its presence in the UK, Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Asia, and strengthened its position across Central Europe in 2012. The company also became a regular sponsor of the World of Trade Conference and has supported the conference for several years.
The first independent World of Trading Awards occurred in Germany in 2013, for which ActivTrades was recognised for as the top Forex Broker in relation to the MetaTrader platform.
In March 2012, the company offered MetaTrader 5 to its users and included financial spread betting to its portfolio for UK-based clients.
Operations
The company is active throughout Europe, particularly in Germany and Italy, and has expanded operations to South America, as well as to China, Russia and India, and has added traders in the Middle East. The Middle Eastern expansion has resulted in the organisation’s recognition as the Best Retail FX Provider from the Investment Opportunities and Wealth Management Conference, as well as Fastest Growing FX Provider in the Middle East.
ActivTrades has offices in London which houses sales, marketing and general operations functions for the company, with the programming and technical development taking place in Sofia. The company also has an office in Milán (Italy).
Platforms and Mobile Trading
ActivTrades offers MetaTrader 4 and 5, which are also available for mobile devices such as the iPhone, iPad and Android. They also provide Islamic accounts as well as access via their ActivTrades mobile app, called ActivTrades Access.
Regulation
The Company is authorized by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) in the UK and by CONSOB in Italy, and is also a member of the Financial Services Compensation Scheme.
