Achada Leitão is a settlement in the central part of the island of Santiago, Cape Verde. It is situated 3 km northeast of Picos and is connected by a branch road running near Ribeira da Faveta and connects with Covão Grande on the other side of the stream. Nearest place include Picos Acima (or Chão Vaz) in the southwest and Covão Grande to the northwest. It is also a volcanic plateau dominating an area of around 30 to 100 ha.

Ribeira da Faveta flows in the west and the creeks flows slightly northwest. The northwestern part of the area are dominated by a hollow feature known as Covão Grande. That portion is flooded by the Faveta Dam that formed the Faveta Reservoir.

The area offers panoramic views of the mountains to the west and the north and most of the interior of the island, the Atlantic Ocean is seen in the eastern portion.

History

In the mid to late 20th century, the village was dominated by the Rabelados, a religious community once dominant in the area.

In 2011, the water supply was connected to the village alongside the neighboring Picos.

In 2011, construction of a new dam was constructed and was completed on July 19, 2013 and a part of the feature was flooded and became Faveta Reservoir.

Between August 31 and September 1, Hurricane Fred came to the island and the most area flooded was the area and the Faveta Reservoir were filled with water to maximum capacity, it prompted residents from adjacent areas to evacuate.
