Aberásturi is a village in Álava, Basque Country, Spain. It is located in the municipality of Vitoria, in the province of Álava, included in the Eastern rural area of the municipality.

Geography

Aberásturi is located to the east of the municipality, some 8 km from the city center, along the Ertekaberri river at the foot of a mountain and on a hillside. The local A-4126 highway that links with the A-132 county road that connects Lumbier with Vitoria, passes through the town.

Demography

In 2010 Aberásturi had a population of 139 inhabitants.

History

Aberásturi was one of 43 villages which came together to form Vitoria in different times and occasions. After separating from Vitoria in 1840 the Cuadrilla de Añana was turned into the Cuadrilla de Vitoria. The village had previously belonged to the municipality of Elorriaga.

Heritage

The Catholic parish church is under the patronage of Saint Stephen. It has a neoclassical portico, designed by Justo Antonio de Olaguibel, at the beginning of the nineteenth century.
