Controversies
In 2007, he was recognized as CEO of the Year by the CEO World Forum. Al Sayegh faced intense scrutiny with allegations that he had bribed award judges beholden to Arab Media Group patronage. Some in the industry suspiciously alluding to the news that the AMG themselves had set up this CEO Forum body.
In 2008, Al Sayegh sacked a DJ on Virgin Radio, for making an offensive God joke. Before sacking him, the DJ was forced on-air to apologize. He is notorious in local business circles as being hot-headed and has had to fight numerous cases against disgruntled, often over worked, employees. Al Sayegh famously cited in 2016, that his business does not accommodate laziness, claiming to work 15 hours a day and allowing employees time to sleep if they had worked through the night.
After getting sacked by the Arab Media Group in 2009, Al Sayegh fled Dubai for London due to the backlash received from the Ruler's Court, as well as various vendettas with competitors.
