Abdul Rehman Shaikh (born September 22, 1992) is a professional motorcycle racer who currently competes in the 1000 CC Superstock Motorcycle Racing, which is accredited by Federation Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM, Federation of International Motorcycling).

Career

He started racing professionally in 2007, during the start he couldn't get a good grip in motorcycle racing, and Abdul Rehman moved to Porsche GT Racing in UAE. He returned to motorcycle racing back again in the year 2014, and signed team Yamaha racing and made his racing debut at that season's Australian Grand Prix at The Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit which is located on Phillip Island, Victoria, Australia. He is best known for winning the 2007 and 2011 GT Racing for Porsche. He currently competes in the 1000 CC superstock racing championship, riding for team Yamaha. His current contract is for 2 years, which is suppose to end in 2016, sources says he might be joining team Ducati in 2017.

2014 season

Abdul Rehman's breakthrough year came during the end of 2014 after finishing eight in the season-opening. In the starting of the year Abdul Rehman struggled a lot with his new machine and according to him the motorcycle was too heavy for him to keep it under control at high speeds and around the corners. His team made a couple of changes to the bike to make it perfect for the next season. At the pre-season testing Abdul Rehman was very much happy and satisfied with the new motorcycle and did much faster laps on his new motorcycle compared to his old machine.

2015 season

In the beginning of the 2015 season Abdul Rehman's result were not up to the mark and he was struggling a lot with the bike's electronics and suspensions in the wet conditions, he and his team put a hard work to match the bike as per his need and they started to work on their bike again for upcoming races. He won his first race in Australia at the 'Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit and secured 25 lead points. Over the course of the season he would take a further 4 wins and 6 podiums. In the middle of the season Abdul Rehman faced a heavy crash at the Phillip Island Circuit which damaged his collar bone badly resulting him to miss two races which pulled him down on the standing points. In China Abdul Rehman was seen the fastest man on the circuit, he secured pole position in two races and also secured first on the podium. These two wins pushed him forward to lead the championship with huge point difference. At Singapore Abdul Rehman crashed during the practice session and broke his pinkie and ring finger. However, he kept competing inspite of these injuries. During the final race he took 12 victories and was announced as champion even before the season was over with one more race to spare.
