Abdul Mohit Talukder (Bengali: আব্দুল মহিত তালুকদার) is a Bengali politician and businessman in Bangladesh. He is the current Chairman of Adamdighi Upazila, in Bogra, and the managing director of GM Aquaculture LTD. His father was also in government as well as two of his brothers.

Family Background

Mohit is the son of the late Abdul Majid Talukder. Abdul Majid Talukdar was chairman of Chatiyangram Union Parishad for 44 years from 1944 to 1988 and was a member of Jatiyo Sangshad from 1979 - 1981 and 1991 - 2001 in the parliamentary seat- no.38, Bogra-3. Abdul Mohit's elder brother, Abdul Momen Talukder, also became chairman of Chatiyangram Union Parishad for 2 times, in 1988 & 1998 and elected member of Jatiyo Sangshad in 2001 and in 2008. Mohit was born on October 31, 1958, in Adamdighi, Bogra and spent most of his life in his birthplace.

Mohit started his career as LGED contractor for transport network and continued until he started fishery business in 1996. In 2003 he established GM Aquaculture LTD on 43 acres land and became managing director of the company. His immediate younger brother Abdul Mottakin Talukder is the chairman of Chatiyangram Union Parishad, elected in 2011.

Mohit lives in Adamdighi, Bogra. He is married to Ferdousi Mohit who is a housewife. They have two children, Mezanur Rahman Ziko lives in Melbourne Australia and Momenur Rahman Mim lives in Adamdighi, Bogra.

Business career

Mohit Talukder started fishery business in 1996 in his birthplace, Kalaikuri, and turned the business into a limited company as GM Aquaculture LTD in 2003. The company was established on 43 Acres of land in the first place. He expanded the company to more than 65 Acres by 2014.

In January 2013, Mohit faced a devastating event in his business when nearly 300,000 fishes which were worth of ৳30,000,000 (Bangladeshi Taka)/(us$400,000) died due to virus attack.

Political career

Abdul Mohit was elected president of Adamdighi upazila BNP (Bangladesh Nationalist Party) in 2002 and still now he holds the position. The Senior Vice Chairman of BNP Tarique Rahman were present in that election process.

In the same year Abdul Mohit elected chairman of Chatiyangram Union Parishad uncontested. In 2006, He received National Award for achieving 100% sanitation facility in Chatiyangram Union Parishad from LGED minister Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan.


He is also Vice President of Bogra district BNP since 2009.

In the same year he participated Upazila chairman election for the first time in his life. He was supported and backed by Bangladesh Nationalist Party(BNP) and his election symbol was 'chair'. His opposition candidate was Sirajul Islam Khan (Raju), childhood friend of Abdul Mohit, who was backed and supported by Bangladesh Awami League, and his symbol was 'Fish'. Abdul Mohit was defeated by Raju by little over 2,500 votes. In 2009 Adamdighi Upazila election, Abdul Mohit's 'Chair' received 49,481 votes and his opponent Raju received 52,047 votes.


Currently Abdul Mohit Talukder is the chairman of Adamdighi Upazila. On 27 February 2014, Adamdighi Upazila election was held where the major opponents are remained the same as per 2009 election. Abdul Mohit's symbol was Motorcycle and opponent's symbol was Pineapple. Abdul Mohit won by nearly 27,000 votes. In 2014 Adamdighi Upazila election, Abdul Mohit's 'Motorcycle' received 65,124 votes and his opponent Raju received 38,225 votes.
