ARCA SGR S.p.A. is an Italian asset management company (Italian: Società di Gestione del Risparmio) based in Milan, Lombardy region. The company was found in 1983 by ARCA, an alliance of 8 People's Banks, namely Banca Antoniana, Banca Popolare Commercio e Industria, Banca Popolare di Crema, Banca Popolare di Cremona, Banca Popolare di Lodi and Banca Popolare Veneta. In 1989 ARCA joined with North East Group to form ARCA – Nort Est, adding Banca Agricola Mantovana, Banca Popolare di Bergamo, Banca Popolare dell'Emilia, Banca Popolare di Sondrio (BPSO), Banca Popolare di Verona and Banca Popolare di Vicenza (BPVi) to the alliance. ARCA Vita was a sister company of ARCA SGR.

Mergers and Acquisitions

In 2013, Carige Asset Management SGR was acquired from Banca Carige for €101 million.

Shareholders

As at 31 December 2015, the company was still owned by three former members of the alliance, namely Banca Popolare dell'Emilia Romagna (32.752%; bought part of Banco Popolare's stake in 2015 for €59.2 million), Banca Popolare di Sondrio (21.137%; bought part of Banco Popolare's stake in 2015 for €36.3 million), Banca Popolare di Vicenza (19.999%), as well as Veneto Banca (19.999%), Banca Popolare del Lazio (1.804%), Sanfelice 1893 Banca Popolare (1.536%), Banca Valsabbina (1.511%), Banca Popolare Valconca (0.620%), Banca Agricola Popolare di Ragusa (0.320%), Banca di Piacenza (0.256%) and Banca Popolare di Fondi (0.006%).

In 2012 UBI Banca (along with subsidiary Banca Popolare di Ancona) withdrew their investment (26.708% stake) in ARCA SGR. BPSO acquired an additional 7.034% stake that year (to 12.906%), as well as BPVi acquired an additional 9.07% stake (to 19.99%); BPER sold 0.182% stake in order to decrease the stake to below 20% (to 19.998%).
