History
A Lull was first formed in 2009 in Chicago, Illinois, and is named after an Andrew Bird song the band liked. The band toured throughout 2011 and the beginning of 2012 with bands such as Cold War Kids and Gauntlet Hair. Their debut full-length album, Confetti, was released in 2011. According to the Dallas Observer, "in just a few years, [the band has] developed a solid reputation for edgy indie pop and chaotic live performances."
In 2012, the band recorded five new songs, which were released as the EP Meat Market that year. The album, on Lujo Records, received a mixed review by Pitchfork Media, who stated, "here's a warmth to Meat Mountain somewhat absent from the fussier Confetti; it's production's a watercolor haze, and there's some Beach Boys DNA buried deep in their elongated harmonies."
