Aïn El Kebira (in Arabic: عين الكبيرة, formerly Périgotville) is a city located 27 km north far from Sétif. Ain El Kebira is classed as daira in the Algerian regional classification. The place was called "Satafis" during the time of Roman occupation. The Romans of Djemila used it for entering their dead. The city was created in the French colonization time under the name of "Périgotville". It is now known as "Ain El Kebira", which means "the big fountain" in Arabic.
