7th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron

History

The unit trained pilots and technicians for photographic reconnaissance during World War II. Reactivated in 1967, the 7th TRS was an RF-4C Phantom II reconnaissance pilot training organization. It trained many RF-4C pilots prior to their deployment to Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War. Inactivated in 1971 when parent 67th TRW moved from Mountain Home to Bergstrom AFB.

Activated on 28 January 1942 Re-designated: 7th Photographic Reconnaissance Squadron on 9 June 1942 Re-designated: 7th Photographic Squadron (Light) on 6 February 1943 Re-designated: 7th Photographic Reconnaissance Squadron on 11 August 1943 Disbanded on 1 May 1944.

Re-constituted as 7th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron on 1 December 1967

Activated on 15 December 1967 Inactivated on 15 October 1971
