4Music is a music and entertainment channel in the United Kingdom and available on some digital television providers in the Republic of Ireland. The channel launched on 15 August 2008, replacing The Hits. It is the only Channel 4-branded channel within The Box Plus Network. It is available on Freeview, Virgin Media and Sky. On 2 April 2013, all Box Television channels went free-to-air on satellite, apart from 4Music which went free-to-view. As a result, the channels were removed from the Sky EPG in Ireland. However, 4Music went free-to-air on February 7, 2017 and launched on Freesat, replacing The Box.

Vote4Music - An interactive show where a set of 30 songs can be chosen by tweeting the relevant hashtag, the hashtag with the most votes is then played next and this process is repeated. The song that is chosen when the final song of the show is being played is then played at the beginning of the next show instead.
Tweet To Beat - Currently shown during the 6-weeks break of Trending Live. Two artists songs are played alternately, viewers can use the hashtags on-screen to choose their winner (e.g. #4MusicCalvin vs. #4MusicTaylor), the percentages are shown on-screen throughout and when the vote closes the winner then gets the last song of the programme.
From The Start - Selected artist retrospective, from career memory lane - to today.
Trending Live - Live from the Box Plus office every weekday from 4pm until 6pm, Trending Live is 4Music's flagship show playing the latest music, bring you the biggest entertainment news stories and having daily debates other Twitter using #TrendingLive or antoher specified hashtag to then be shown on-screen during music videos or be read out by the two presenters. The presenters in rotation each day are AJ Odudu, Will Best, Jimmy Hill, Maya Jama, Vick Hope and Yasser Ranjha.
Box Fresh launched at the beginning of 2017 as a replacement for the Box Upfront series of shows (excluding The Official Box Upfront Chart). Vick Hope presents all Box Fresh branded programming on TV. Box Fresh programmes include:

Today's 4Music Top 10 - A chart compiled by 4Music of the "biggest" and "best" videos right now. The first ever Today's 4Music Top 10 Chart was broadcast on 18 August 2008 at 12:00 pm. Yeasayer were top with their single "Ambling Alp".
Fresh Music Top 20 - Formerly, the 4Music Top 20, this is a chart compiled by 4Music of the "biggest" and "best" videos from the current week. The first ever This Week's 4Music Top 20 Chart was broadcast on 19 March 2009 at 3:45 pm.
Your Official Top 20 - A chart is compiled of songs from a particular artist that has released at least 20 singles such as Beyoncé, Christina Aguilera and The Black Eyed Peas. The public vote for their favourite song on the 4Music website and the results are shown on the results show.
The 4Music Buzz Chart - The first "4Music Buzz Chart" was broadcast on 18 August 2008 at 12:00 am. It shows a selection of pre-released songs charted into a top 10, similar to sister channel The Box's "Box Breakers". The first number one in the chart was "Jump in the Pool" by Friendly Fires and Bombay Bicycle Club's "Always Like This". The programme is no longer shown.
4Music Big Ones - A selection of pre-released and released singles. It plays all genres of music such as hip-hop, rock, pop, R&B, dance, folk, indie etc.
UKHot40 - UKHot40 is a music video chart based on UK sales only, and documents the top records of the week.

From the Beginning - All of the music videos from a certain artist are played, from their first right through to the present day. They have included Take That, P!nk, Mariah Carey, Westlife and Girls Aloud.
Six Steps - Linking a couple of artists, through six stages. Snoop Dogg to Girls Aloud, Dizzee Rascal to Westlife and Madonna to McFly are a few examples.
The Versus Chart - The programme is hosted by Matt Littler and Darren Jeffries. They both back an artist and show 10 mixed music videos of both artists with them to see which is "better". Eminem Vs. Kanye West, Britney Vs. Christina, Lady GaGa Vs. Katy Perry and Take That Vs. Robbie Williams are a few examples.
4Music Doubles - Two music videos by artists or bands. The first video, being their newest song, the second video, being their most successful song. "Imma Be" and "Where Is the Love?" is an example by The Black Eyed Peas
The Crush - A monthly show called The Crush (sponsored by KFC Krushems milkshakes) was hosted by Rick Edwards and later T4 host Will Best and contains interviews with artists that are releasing new albums and single in that month.

4Music launched on 15 August 2008. The channel launched with an on-screen countdown counting down from ten minutes down to zero. During the countdown, clips from popular music videos were faded through the screen including clips from promotions for the channel. The channel then launched at 7 pm with a promotional advert for the channel then fading into "Davina (McCall) and Steve (Jones)'s 20 Big Ones"; the first song at number 20 being "The Pretender" by The Foo Fighters and Kylie Minogue's "Can't Get You Out of My Head" at number 1.
Kylie Minogue's KYLIEX2008 tour was broadcast. Completing the launch night line up was Big Brother Live, where Rachel Rice was given a 'favourite things party' as she had survived that night's eviction. She and her chosen favourite housemate, Kathreya Kasisopa, were taken to a private room where Rachel's top 10 favourite songs were played. Live coverage of the 2008 V Festival was shown on 16 and 17 August and highlights were shown on subsequent days. These highlights sparked complaints however as to the overall quality of coverage - the main headliners did not get their full sets played out.
Despite the arguments between Davina and Steve as to whose face appeared first on the channel, actually the first face on 4Music was Kylie Minogue, introducing her live concert at 9 pm on the launch night (as they later explained).
The launch also saw a new DOG appear on the screen and new idents with a woman swivelling on a chair with the new pink 4Music logo in the background similar to the previous idea "The Hits" had with a TV suddenly filling with colour throughout the room.
V Festival and T4 on the Beach
4Music has coverage at both festivals during the Summer, with highlights repeated frequently throughout the Summer. The channel also has stages at both events. At T4 on the Beach since 2007 (renamed the "T4 and 4Music Stage" in 2010) and at the V Festival since 2005 (then known as the "Channel 4 Stage", renamed to the "4Music Stage" in 2008).
T4 on the Beach ended after T4 closed down on 30 December 2012.
