The 40th international emmy awards


The 40th International Emmy Awards took place on November 19, 2012, at the Hilton Hotel in New York City, United States. The ceremony, hosted by Regis Philbin, also presented a special Founders Award to Norman Lear and Alan Alda, and another kudo to Ryan Murphy. The Directorate Award was presented to Kim In-Kyu, prexy and CEO of Korean Broadcasting System.

Ceremony

The nominees for the 40th International Emmy Awards were announced by International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences on 8 October 2012, at a press conference in Mipcom, Cannes.

In all, 38 finalists were selected from 15 countries who competed in the awards in 9 categories. Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Japan, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, South Korea, Spain and the UK were the finalists of the 40th International Emmy, who received 1,100 entries, analyzed by jurors of 67 countries.

In celebration of the International Emmys 40th anniversary, the International Academy paid tribute to Alan Alda and Norman Lear with Special Founders Awards. Also, the 2012 International Emmy Founders Award was presented to producer/writer Ryan Murphy, Co-creator & Executive Producer of Glee while the 2012 International Emmy Directorate Award was presented to Dr. Kim In-Kyu, President & CEO of KBS, also President of the ABU.
