Shayaa Bin Abraham-Joseph (born October 22, 1992), known professionally as 21 Savage, is an American hip hop recording artist from Atlanta, Georgia. He is best known for his mixtapes, The Slaughter Tape and Slaughter King and his extended plays Free Guwop and Savage Mode with Metro Boomin.

2013–2015: The Slaughter Tape, Free Guwop and Slaughter King

On November 12, 2014, 21 Savage's debut single, "Picky", produced by DJ Plugg, was released. It was later released on his debut mixtape, The Slaughter Tape, released on May 25, 2015. The same day, the track and a music video for Joseph's "Red Rag, Blue Rag" was released. On June 19, September 3, and October 9, 2015, music videos for "Skrrt Skrrt", produced by Fukk 12, "Million Dollar Liq", also produced by Fukk 12 and featuring ManMan Savage, and Whoa, produced by Zaytoven were released, respectively.

On July 2, 2015, 21 Savage released a collaborative EP, Free Guwop, with Sonny Digital. It is a tribute EP to fellow rapper and influence Gucci Mane. On October 15, 2015, the track and music video for "Air It Out", featuring Young Nudy and produced by Zaytoven, was released. On December 1, 2015, 21 Savage released his second mixtape, Slaughter King. On December 2, 2015, the music video for the KD Beatz produced "Dirty K" off of Slaughter King was released.
2016–present: XXL and Savage Mode with Metro Boomin
In June 2016, 21 Savage was named as one of the "Freshman Class" of 2016 by XXL.

On July 15, 2016, 21 Savage released his joint EP Savage Mode with Atlanta-based record producer Metro Boomin. The EP gained international success and peaked at number 44 on the Billboard 200, becoming their highest charting EP to date. He was on the cover of Fader. His single "X" featuring Future on the EP was confirmed by Billboard as going platinum, being 21's 1st platinum record. On January 18, 2017, 21 Savage announced that he had signed to Epic Records.
Personal life
In the seventh grade, 21 Savage was expelled from middle school for gun possession. He mentions the incident in his song, "No Heart".
21 Savage practices Ifá, a West African religion.
