The following is a summary of Down GAA's 2016 Gaelic football season. It is the first season for new Down manager Eamon Burns.

Down will play in Division One of the National Football League in 2016. The fixtures were announced on 16 November 2015.

Compete in Division 1 semi-finals
Automatic relegation to Division 2

The draw for the 2016 Ulster Senior Football Championship took place on 15 October 2015.

On Thursday 5 November 2015 Down appointed Eamon Burns as new football manager.
