The 2016–17 Cal Poly Mustangs men's basketball team represents the California Polytechnic State University in the 2016–17 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Mustangs, led by eighth-year head coach Joe Callero, play their home games at Mott Athletic Center and are members of the Big West Conference.
Previous season
The Mustangs finished the 2015–16 season 10–20, 4–12 in Big West play to finish in eighth place. They lost in the quarterfinals of the Big West Tournament to UC Irvine.
