The 2016–17 season is AEK Athens Football Club's 56th competitive season in the top flight of Greek football, 7th season in the Super League Greece, and 93rd year in existence as a football club and 2nd season after being promoted from Football League (Greece). They also compete in the Greek Cup.

Events

29 May 2016 Before 2015–16 Superleague Greece the campaign was over, Anastasios Bakasetas agreed to a two-year contract with AEK Athens F.C. which was made effective on 1 July or 1 January.

5 June 2016 Former AEK Athens F.C. player Temur Ketsbaia reached an agreement to be the new coach of the team
