The 2014 Malaysia Para Games, officially known as the 17th Malaysia Para Games, was a multi-sport event held in Perlis, two months after the 2014 Sukma Games from 21 August 2014 to 25th August 2014 with 9 sports and disciplines featured in the games. This was Perlis first time to host the Sukma Games and also its first as host of Malaysia Para Games.

Perlis is the ninth state to host the Malaysia Para Games after Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Kelantan, Malacca, Terengganu, Johor, Sarawak and Pahang. Perlis is also the third state to host the Malaysia Para Games based on the rotation system of the Sukma Games host, a hosting system introduced in 2010 begin with the 2010 Malaysia Para Games. The 2014 Malaysia Para Games is third edition of the games to held at the venue where the Sukma Games last held.
The final medal tally was led by Sarawak, followed by Terengganu and Johor with host Perlis in seventh place. Several national records were broken during the games. Penangite swimmer Yoong Chung Wei of Penang and Perlisan athlete Umi Syuhadah were announced as best sportsman and best sportswoman of the games respectively. The games were deemed generally successful with the rising standard of disabled sports competition amongst the Malaysian states.
Host city
This Games is the 3rd edition of the Malaysia Para Games to follow the rotation system of the Sukma Games host. Perlis is the host of the 17th Malaysia Para Games.
Since 1986, all states of Malaysia has hosted the Sukma Games except for Kelantan. Prior to the 2014 games, Perlis has yet to host any Sukma Games. This is the first time the state held the multi-sport event. Perlis, having hosted the 15th Sukma Games is hosting the games for the first time and many of its facilities were either freshly completed or upgraded before the 2014 Sukma Games.

Logo and mascot
Similar to the 2014 Sukma Games, the official mascot of the games is a lion named "Singa Utara". Lion is the icon and identity of Perlis and is known as the Northern Lion. Despite the fact that the lion does not exist in the state, the lion is regarded as the state symbol because it represents the characteristics and soul of the Perlisans namely: courage, fast, competency, friendly, smart and caring.
The logo is an image of a lion consists of four colours. Yellow represents loyalty to king and country, Blue represents unity and harmony in sports, Red represents the fighting spirit, insistence and the bravery in facing challenges while White represents solemnity, pure soul and sincerity. The symbol of the lion itself is the state symbol of Perlis as depicted in the coats of arms of Perlis.
Medal table
A total of 728 medals, comprising 275 Gold medals, 234 Silver medals and 219 Bronze medals were awarded to athletes. The host Perlis' performance was their best ever yet and were placed 7th overall among participating states.
