The 2014–15 season is Chester's fifth season of existence and their second consecutive season in the Conference. Along with competing in the Football Conference, the club also participated in the FA Cup, FA Trophy and Cheshire Senior Cup. The season covers the period from 1 July 2014 to 30 June 2015.

  • 3 May 2014: Chester announce manager Steve Burr has signed a two-year contract.
  • 12 May 2014: Chester announce Sean McConville as their first signing of the season from Stalybridge Celtic.
  • 19 May 2014: Chester announce goalkeeper John Danby has been transfer listed.
  • 23 May 2014: Chester announce that defender Michael Kay has signed a one-year contract.
  • 29 May 2014: Chester announce pre-season friendlies against Crewe Alexandra and Burnley as well as a trip to Vauxhall Motors.
  • 1 June 2014: Chester announce the departures of both striker Gareth Seddon and defender Paul Linwood.

  • 10 June 2014: Despite Chester finishing in the relegation places the season before, the club are handed a reprieve due to Hereford United's financial situation. Chester also announce the signing of Kingsley James from the club, as well as Wayne Riley joining from Hednesford Town.
  • 17 June 2014: Chester announce captain George Horan has left after four seasons with the club.
  • 20 June 2014: Chester announce former loanee Matthew Brown has signed for the club permanently. Meanwhile, scout Alex Hay has left the club to join Tranmere Rovers.
  • 25 June 2014: Chester announce Craig Mahon, Jamie Menagh and Craig Hobson have all signed a one-year contract. The club also make new signings in Peter Winn and John Disney from Macclesfield Town and Hednesford Town respectively.
  • 26 June 2014: Chester announce a pre-season friendly against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
  • 30 June 2014: Chester announce the signing of former Scottish international striker Chris Iwelumo from St Johnstone.
  • 10 July 2014: Chester announce the signing of former Welsh international defender Gareth Roberts from Notts County.
  • 17 July 2014: Chester announce season ticket sales have reached to 1,000 sales.
  • 18 July 2014: The first Cross-border derby of the season is announced to be screened live on BT Sport.
  • 7 August 2014: Chester announce Bermudian goalkeeper Freddy Hall has signed for the club.
  • 9 August 2014: Chester start off the season in one of the worse ways possible by losing 5–0 to Barnet with Danny Harrison getting sent off.
  • 14 August 2014: Chester are drawn away to Runcorn Town in the prelimanry round of the Cheshire Senior Cup.
  • 15 August 2014: Chester announce the signing of defender Ben Heneghan from Stoke City.
  • 20 August 2014: Chester announce transfer listed goalkeeper John Danby has left the club.
  • 28 August 2014: Chester announce the signing of goalkeeper Connor Roberts from Cheltenham Town and then announce Burnley striker Jadan Hall has signed on loan.

  • 22 September 2014: Chester beat Wrexham 2–1 in the Cross-border derby live on BT Sport thanks to a last minute from defender Ben Heneghan.
  • 3 October 2014: Chester announce youth team striker Ben Greenop has joined the first team squad.
  • 6 October 2014: Chester announce Matty Hughes has joined the club on loan from Fleetwood Town.
  • 13 October 2014: Chester are drawn away at Stockport County in the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup.
  • 18 October 2014: Chester announce former goalkeeper Grenville Millington has become the chairman of the club.
  • 25 October 2014: Chester reach the first round proper of the FA Cup for the first time since reforming after beating Stockport County 4–2.
  • 28 October 2014: Striker Chris Iwelumo announces his retirement from football.
  • 8 November 2014: Chester continue their FA Cup success after beating League Two side Southend United 2–1 away from home.
  • 10 November 2014: Chester announce the departure of defender Danny Taylor.
  • 11 November 2014: Chester announce the signings of Josh O'Keefe and Rhys Oates on loan from Kidderminster Harriers and Barnsley respectively.
  • 3 December 2014: Fleetwood Town recall Matty Hughes from his loan spell at Chester.

  • 16 December 2014: Chester are knocked out of the FA Cup losing 3–0 to Barnsley at home. Barnsley also recall Rhys Oates while Chester sign Kane Richards from Ilkeston.
  • 22 December 2014: Chester are knocked out of the FA Trophy losing to AFC Telford united on penalties in the first round.
  • 3 January 2015: Chester announce that Jamie Menagh, Danny Harrison, Wayne Riley and John Disney have all been made available for transfer. Defender Ryan Higgins has also joined the club from AFC Telford United, while midfielder Josh Green joins on loan from Fleetwood Town.
  • 7 January 2015: Chester announce that Jamie Menagh and Liam Blake have signed for Marine on loan.
  • 9 January 2015: Chester announce Wayne Riley has left the club.
  • 16 January 2015: Chester announce the loan signings of Brad Abbott and Matty Hughes from Barnsley and Fleetwood Town respectively. Goalkeeper Jon Viscosi also joins the club.
  • 20 January 2015: Chester announce that former trialist George Thomson has signed for the club while Danny Harrison leaves.
  • 22 January 2015: Chester announce Oliver McBurnie has signed for the club on loan from Bradford City.
