The 2013–14 Brisbane Roar season will be the Roar's ninth season in the A-League. Having arguably fallen from their mantle of being the best team in the country, the Roar will be striving to get back to title winning ways by any means necessary. The failure to qualify for the AFC Champions League could be seen as an advantage, allowing the club to focus on domestic competition without the distraction of foreign competition. Manager Mike Mulvey will also be looking to make his mark on the club during his first full pre season at the club and prove his credentials to the country in the new season.

    Squad Statistics

Squad and statistics accurate as of 4 May 2014
90 Minutes played is counted as a full game. Injury Time is not counted. A sub's appearance is counted up to the 90th minute as well. If a substitution is made during extra time, it is counted as a full game (90mins) to the player that started. The substitute is credited with the number of minutes made up from 30 seconds for every substitution in the game by both teams combined. If there is an uneven amount of substitutions made in total, the amount of minutes is rounded up to the following number (2.5 mins = 3 mins).

If a shot is taken by a player but then saved by the goalkeeper before a follow up shot scores a goal, the player/s that took the shot before the save is/are NOT credited with an assist
If a Finals game goes to Extra Time and a substitution is made, per the original rule, only the 30 minutes (2x 15 minute halves) is counted, NOT injury time. If the referee adds injury to either half and a substitution IS made during injury time, it also reverts to the original rule (2.5 mins = 3 mins)

Four over-age players (including goalkeeper) are allowed to be selected in the match day squad, usually these coming from the senior team. Players that are not under the age of 21 as of 1 January in the year the season commences are considered Over Age Players. Players under the age of 21 but are on Senior contracts are also considered Over Age Players. Players in the Senior side that are 1 of the 3 designated full-time NYL contract are not considered Over Age Players.

The match statistics for the Roar NYL side in the round 3 game vs Western Sydney Wanderers Youth are unattainable and cannot be found. The only details that can be established at this time is that Shannon Brady, Patrick Theodore, Jai Ingham and Denver Crickmore all featured in this particular game. Since there is no definitive way to tell who started and who came on as a sub, no stats have been added to their individual record. NOTE: Ingham scored 2 goals & Brady scored in this match.

  • [1] - Despite being listed as a defender on the Brisbane Roar website, Sam Cronin is known to also naturally play in the midfield
  • [2] - Despite being listed as a midfielder on the Brisbane Roar website, Shannon Brady is known to also naturally play in attack
  • [3] - Brandon Borrello, Ben Litfin & Kwame Yeboah are the 3 designated Full-time National Youth League contracted players to the Senior team, allowing them to be one of the minimum 20 players for the Senior side whilst being a Youth team player.
  • [4] - Cameron Crestani, Benjamin Lyvidikos, Logan Grillo, Luke Pavlou, Costa Psaros, Jesse Daley & Samuel Sibatuara were invited as "train on" players, available for use throughout the season when there are not enough Youth team or Senior team back up players available to field a full team or starting players and substitutes. Those players each have a reference link next to their names
  • [5] - Since there is no declaration of what time during the match Samed Altundag came on to replace Patrick Theodore against Sydney FC Youth, Altundag has been credited with 30 minutes, the minimum amount of game time required for a used player in a game per NYL rules and Theodore has been credited with the other 60 minutes.
  • [6] - By NYL rules, if all substitutions are made and an injury occurs to the team the player plays for, an "Injury Substitution" is allowed to take place, regardless of time played in the match. With that in mind, if a player has already come off during the game, he is also available to come on as the substitute, making it possible that he can play twice in a game (start and then is subbed, comes on to replace injured player). In Round 7 vs Adelaide United Youth, Samed Altundag had been replaced after 60mins. With Patrick Theodore getting injured in the 87th, Altundag came on to replace Theodore. 87 minutes was added to Theodore's stats and 3 minutes added to Altundag's stats. A substitution point was also added Altundag's stats
  • [7] - Despite the substitution times being 61minutes for all 3 substitutions against Perth Glory FC Youth in Round 12, in accordance with the rulings by FFA that a minimum of 30 minutes is required for a player if they feature and the guidelines of this section (90 minutes counted, no injury time etc.), the 60 minutes have been credited to the starting 3 players that got substituted and 30mins to the 3 that came on.
  • [8] - Despite the substitution times being 61minutes for all 3 substitutions against Melbourne Heart Youth in Round 17, in accordance with the rulings by FFA that a minimum of 30 minutes is required for a player if they feature and the guidelines of this section (90 minutes counted, no injury time etc.), the 60 minutes have been credited to the starting 3 players that got substituted and 30mins to the 3 that came on.
