1 Champions League-bound Dinamo Zagreb won the 2010–11 Croatian Cup, so cup runners-up Varaždin entered the first qualifying round of UEFA Europa League.
2 Lokomotiva avoided relegation as only two second level clubs who were granted first division licences by the Croatian Football Federation managed to finish the season within top five places.
Istra 1961 remained in the Prva HNL after winners of the Druga HNL, Gorica, got their top level license revoked
