The 2009 season of the Super League Malaysia is the 6th edition since its inception in 2004. This season features 14 teams. DPMM FC (Duli Pengiran Muda Mahkota FC) was excluded from the competition. The competition kicked off on 3 January 2009.

The 2010 Super League Malaysia was the 6th season of the highest Malaysian football league since its inception in 2004. Fourteen teams participated in the league, nine state teams and five club teams, with Kedah FA as the defending champions. The season began on 3 January 2009 and ended on 3 August 2009. Selangor won their first Malaysia Super League title since its inception in 2004.

Teams

A total of 14 teams compete in the 2009 season which includes the top 12 teams that participated in the 2007-08 season and champions and runners-up of the 2007-08 Malaysia Premier League.

Sarawak FA were relegated at the end of the 2009 Malaysia Super League season after finishing in the bottom place of the league table.

2007-08 Malaysia Premier League champions Kuala Muda Naza FC and runners-up PLUS FC secured direct promotion to the Super League.

    Notes
  • The opening league game of the season between Kedah FA and Selangor FA also doubled up as the Malaysia Charity Shield. Selangor FA won 4–1.
  • The game between Kelantan FA and KL PLUS FC was awarded 3–0 to KL PLUS FC as Kelantan could not agree on a suitable venue. However the result was then revoked and the game would be replayed at a later date.
  • Kuala Muda Naza FC and UPB-MyTeam FC withdrew before the start of 2010 season.
