The Lions were automatically sent to the second stage of the Climax Series to play the winner out of the Stage 1, the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters who defeated the Orix Buffaloes. Saitama Seibu Lions win the series, 4-2 (Saitama Seibu Lions have a one-win advantage)

Japan Series

The Lions win the series, 4-3, against the Yomiuri Giants, the champions of the Central League.

Asia Series

The Lions won the series 1-0 against the Uni-President 7-Eleven Lions 1-0, the champions of the 2008 Chinese Professional Baseball League.
