The 2008-2009 Season of Mansfield Town F.C. was its first in the Conference National, following their relegation from the Football League at the end of the previous season. The club also competed in the FA Cup and the FA Trophy. The club played its home games at Field Mill. Many changes had been made in the off-season following relegation, with Paul Holland removed as manager and replaced by former Mansfield midfielder Billy McEwan. The biggest change was the ownership of the club, which was sold for £1 by Keith Haslam to a consortium led by Andrew Perry and featuring local businessmen Andrew Saunders and Steve Middleton.
