The 2006 season was São Paulo's 77th season since club's existence. The club finished in a second position in Campeonato Paulista, only one point less of winners Santos. After became a continental and world champion, São Paulo made an disputed season, being deafeted by Internacional in a consecutive final with Brazilian teams, against Atlético Paranaense in previous edition.
