The 2005 Book Sense Book of the Year Awards was the 2005 running of the American Booksellers Association annual Book Sense Book of the Year Awards. The award was created in 2000, when the American Bookseller Book Of The Year award, that ran from 1991 to 2000, was renamed. The books that were awarded were chosen by book stores that participated in the American Booksellers Association's Book Sense program. Books published in 2004 were eligible for the award and voting took place between 6 January to 28 February 2005. The 2005 awards used a new system of voting in which member stores of the American Booksellers Association (ABA) had 2 rounds of voting. The first round chose 5 finalists in each category and the second determined the winners. The 2005 winners were announced by ABA on 12 April 2005. In 2008, Book Sense was renamed IndieBound and the award was renamed the Indies Choice Book Awards.
