The Norwegian Football Cup 1997 was won by the first division side Vålerenga, after they beat Strømsgodset in the cup final.

Quarterfinal

Haugesund – Strømsgodset 2-3 (extra time)

Rosenborg – Viking 2-3 (extra time)

Stabæk – Bodø/Glimt 1-3

Vålerenga – Sogndal 3-2

1st legs:

Bodø/Glimt – Strømsgodset 2-1

Viking – Vålerenga 1-4

2nd legs:

Strømsgodset – Bodø/Glimt 3-1 (4-3 on aggregate)

Vålerenga – Viking 1-1 (5-2 on aggregate)
