  • Intelsat 708 was destroyed on February 14 (day in China at the time).
  • On February 14, Long March 3B launched its first flight.
  • On February 3, 1996 Lijiang earthquake hit Lijiang City and left at least 322 killed, 3,925 serious injuries, and 13,000 injuries.
