Alaska won their first game of the season on February 11, beating defending champion Ginebra San Miguel, 127-122. The team finish the eliminations with 6-wins and 5-losses. The Milkmen fell short of another finals stint when they lost to San Miguel Beermen in a playoff to determine Shell Turbo Chargers' opponent in the First Conference finals. Paul Alvarez' tip-in with 3 seconds left lift Alaska to a 101-99 win over Seven-Up in the opening game of the PBA All-Filipino Conference on June 7. The Milkmen won only once in their next 9 games and placed last, tied with Presto Ice Cream with a 2-8 card.

As defending champions in the Third Conference, import Sean Chambers return anew and went up for the first time against former best import awardee Jamie Waller of Ginebra, coming back after four years. In the main game of the Third Conference double-header on September 20, the Milkmen nip Ginebra, 93-92, on Bobby Jose's two free throws with one second left. Alaska had their best win in the conference on October 15, handed the Swift Mighty Meaties their first loss after six straight wins in a 115-102 victory as the Milkmen held down the prolific Tony Harris to a conference low 38 points, after making history five days earlier in Iloilo City by scoring a record-breaking 105 points.
