  • June 15, 1992 - Brad Shaw traded to the New Jersey Devils for cash.
  • June 15, 1992 - Mark Hunter and future considerations traded to the Washington Capitals for Nick Kypreos. Hartford later sent Yvon Corriveau to Washington to complete the deal.
  • June 16, 1992 - Whalers trade their 1993 sixth round draft pick (Rick Mrozik) to the Minnesota North Stars for Allen Pedersen.
  • June 24, 1992 - Whalers sign defenseman Jim Agnew as a free agent.
  • July 8, 1992 - Future considerations traded to the New York Rangers for Tim Kerr. Hartford later sent their 1993 seventh round draft pick (Sergei Kondrashkin) to the Rangers to complete the deal.
  • August 6, 1992 - Whalers sign Trevor Stienburg as a free agent.
