The 1989 Lufthansa Cup was a men's tennis tournament played on outdoor clay courts at the Rot-Weiss Tennis Club in West Berlin that was part of Tier I of the 1989 WTA Tour. It was the 18th edition of the tournament and was held from May 15 through May 21, 1989.

Women's Singles

Steffi Graf defeated Gabriela Sabatini 6–3, 6–1

It was Graf's 7th title of the year and the 45th of her career.

Elizabeth Smylie / Janine Tremelling defeated Lise Gregory / Gretchen Magers 5–7, 6–3, 6–2

It was Smylie's 5th title of the year and the 26th of her career. It was Tremelling's 3rd title of the year and the 5th of her career.
