The 1987 Independence Bowl was a college football postseason bowl game between the Tulane Green Wave and the Washington Huskies.

Background

In Mack Brown's final year with the Green Wave, they made their first bowl game in seven years. The Huskies were tied for third in the Pacific 10 Conference in their ninth season of going to a bowl game. This was the first Independence Bowl for either team.
