The 1985–86 Northern Counties East Football League season was the 4th in the history of Northern Counties East Football League. The league consisted of 66 teams.

The division featured 20 clubs, with the following new teams:

  • Armthorpe Welfare, promoted from NCEL Division One South
  • Farsley Celtic, promoted from NCEL Division One North
