The season also saw the last game for West Ham by club legend, Trevor Brooking. In the League Cup West Ham recorded their biggest ever win in the competition. On 25 October 1983, in the second round, they beat Bury, 10-0 in the second leg, to win the tie 12-1 on aggregate.
