The 1979 Ohio State Buckeyes football team represented the Ohio State University in the 1979 NCAA Division I-A football season. The Buckeyes compiled an 11–1 record, including the 1980 Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, where they lost, 17–16, to the USC Trojans.
