The 1978 Royal Tru-Orange season was the 4th season of the franchise in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA).

  • Acquired Marte Samson and Valerio Delos Santos from Tanduay.
  • Signed Rudy Lalota of Manilabank in the MICAA, Leo Paguntalan and Tony Torrente.
  • Signed Marlowe Jacutin, Jess Migalbin and Ricardo Dela Pena, all San Miguel players from the MICAA.

    • Summary

    Royal placed sixth in the first conference of the season. In the second conference, they were reinforced by hard-working imports Frank Gugliotta and Larry Williams. RTO were tied with U-Tex and Tanduay on top with five wins and two losses in the first round of eliminations, the Orangemen were almost assured of a semifinals berth until Toyota won its remaining games to virtually eliminated Royal.
