Cuba advanced with aggregate score of 1-0.

4 October 1971, Tegucigalpa, Honduras –  Honduras 1 - 0 Guatemala

Honduras advanced with aggregate score of 2-1.

 Netherlands Antilles withdrew, so  Haiti advanced to the second round automatically.

Second round

13 October 1971, Mexico City, Mexico –  Mexico 4 - 0 Bermuda 

Mexico qualified to the final tournament with aggregate score of 6-0.

 El Salvador withdrew, so  Honduras qualified to the final tournament automatically.

 Suriname withdrew, so  Cuba and  Haiti qualified to the final tournament automatically.

 Costa Rica and  Trinidad and Tobago qualified to the final tournament automatically as holders and hosts.
