Final AP poll

The final AP Poll was released after the bowl games, on January 3, 1969.
In previous seasons, except 1965, the final AP poll was released at the end of the regular season, prior to the bowl games.
Ohio State received 44 of the 49 first-place votes; Penn State and Texas each received two and Arkansas one.

The final UPI Coaches Poll was released prior to the bowl games, in early December.
Ohio State received 28 of the 34 first-place votes; USC received four and Penn State two.
