The 1949-50 French Rugby Union Championship of first division was contested by 48 teams divided en eight pools de six. Twenty-four teams were qualified to play a second phase with eight pools of three clubs. The first of each pool were qualified to play Quarter of finals.

The Championship was won by Carmaux that beat Stadoceste in the final.

It were the only titile won by Union Sportive Carmausine.

Context

The 1951 Five Nations Championship was won by Ireland, while France finished second.

The "Coupe de France" was won by Lourdes that beat Stadoceste in the final.

The situation in and outside the ground during the final of this competiotn was so bad and nervous that British unions ask the withdrawing
