Italian noir hero Gim Toro debuts
September 26: first issue of Le journal de Tintin (Tintin magazine), featuring the debut of the series Blake and Mortimer by Edgar P. Jacobs and the continuation of The Adventures of Tintin by Hergé, which had been interrupted after World War II.
December 7: first appearance of Lucky Luke by Morris, in Spirou with the story Arizona 1880.
November 15: first publication of Halakhak Komiks
April 22: first publication of Sazae-san in Fukunichi Shimbun.
